The Submarine : Make one guitar sound like two

Apply effects to just two strings of your guitar

  • Shipping Begins

It has taken three years but the day has finally come. The Submarine is finally setting sail. The assembly of the first batch is now complete and is being boxed up ready for posting to all corners of the globe. What started as little more than a bundle of wires and dream is now a reality. I can’t quite believe it is happening!

None of this would have been possible without your help. I know you’ve waited much longer than was originally expected. Thank you so much for your patience. I hope you’ll agree it was worth the wait.

The first Submarines will start to ship next week. Those of you who pledged for Submarines should have received received instructions concerning address updates

Those of you still waiting for other rewards I will soon be arranging these. Thank you for waiting - I hope you understand that it was my priority to get the Submarines made first

Shipping of the first batch of Submarines will begin next week.

Once again thank you so much for your help. I look forward to hearing what new sounds you make!

    All the very best,

    Pete

  • First Production Model. Casting Delays. Packaging Samples.

    Dear Friends,

Lots of news this week. But first a big thank you to those of you who have volunteered to wait for the second batch of Submarines. I really appreciate it as it means that those people who need one urgently won’t be disappointed. If you have yet to make your choice please click here. I won’t forget this help and I promise to make it up to you in the future.

A few days ago we received the samples of the die cast housings. This was the final part of the jigsaw  that allowed us to assemble the first working production models. I’m pleased to say the quality is excellent. We have now approved the designs with our casting foundry. Unfortunately they have a large backlog and we received news on Friday that we will not receive the bulk order for another five weeks. I am sorry to report that this means the February delivery is now not possible. I know many of you have gigs and recording sessions that you are eager to use the Submarine on. I’m truly sorry that this isn’t going to be possible. I’m afraid it’s quite out of my control.

In order to make sure that you receive your Submarine is quickly as possible we’ve revised our manufacturing process. The ‘guts’ of the Submarine will be assembled first and separately and when the housings arrive they will be put into place. This is more time consuming and expensive for us but it means you will receive them sooner.

But we are getting incredibly close now. The packaging samples arrived last week. A few minor details will change. Some clever packaging design inside. I’m secretly hoping someone will do an ‘unboxing’ video. For those of you not familiar with this trend please don’t waste your time googling it. It’s truly baffling why people do them.

The micro fibre polishing cloths arrived too!

I am hesitant to give a new revised delivery date as I have had to change it twice already. As more and more parts arrive in bulk I’ll be keeping you posted. After that I’ll be taking care of the assembly and I’ll be treating you to plenty of pictures and the updates will become much more frequent.

Once again thank you for your help. Rest assured those of you who have asked to receive your Submarines as quickly as possible - yours will come from the first batch.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Pete

  • Manufacturing Updates - Castings and Coils

This news is reserved for project supporters.

  • Submarine Update. Difficult coil problem finally solved. Delay to Shipping. My humble apologies.

    Dear Friends,

It has been a rollercoaster of a time. My apologies for the radio silence. We have come up against some very tricky problems with the coils that sit inside the ‘nose’ of the Submarine. It has been a very worrying time that has at times kept me awake at night. I’m enormously relieved to say the problems have all now been solved. However there are some repercussions.

We’ve been in constant contact with our supplier of these minute coils over the last few months. More times than I care to mention we’ve had to return samples when they have not performed as expected. In addition we’ve been through two total redesigns of the inner workings of the Submarine, fine tuning to hundredths of a millimetre.

I am pleased to announce that we have finally solved these problems. However as you may be aware this stage of the process has taken much longer than initially planned. It is of the utmost importance to me that the Submarine functions perfectly and making sure these minute parts are perfect is paramount. I would far rather you receive a great (but late) Submarine rather than an on-time shoddy one.

I’m so sorry to say that the Submarine will not be with you in December. Shipping is now likely to be February. I know all of you are very keen to get your hands on one and believe me I really am doing everything I can to get it to you as quickly as possible.

Those of you waiting for non-Submarine rewards I haven’t forgotten about you! I hope you understand my efforts have been focussed elsewhere.

If you do have questions please fire away. I’ll do my utmost to answer as quickly as possible.

    All the very best,

    Pete

  • Campaign complete! Final figures. Looking forward to the future.

    Dear Friends,

The campaign is over. We reached a final figure of £16,960 which is an amazing achievement. Thank you so much for all your support over this last month. We’ll receive the funds in the next few days and the next stage can begin in earnest.

As I explained on the Ulule page, there are some minor changes to be made before The Submarine goes into full production. As small as they are, it is important that they are fully tested before we push go. These pilot prototypes will be winging their way towards those of you who chose that particular reward sometime in October, all being well.

As always we'll be sure to keep you updated with each part of the process!

Once again, thank you for everything. We wouldn't be here without you.

    All the very best,

    Pete
