Soul Garden

M. Gu new CD

About the project

If being an artist is a way of thinking…
If singing is a way of communicating…
If playing the guitar is a way of colouring…

Then, Mr. Gu (whose real name is Jean-Marie Guyard) definitely combines these characteristics.
His path is not a quest but it is obvious : he is the artist.

Since he was very young, he has been on some of the greatest world stages and has shared this impalpable fluid called emotions,. Emotions have  a power only a few insiders control.

Black is his colour. Warm is his touch. Universal is his taste. The seventies are his scent. Modern is his sound.

Here is , in five senses, the definition of this « World Class » artist. In a sexy and amber setting, he distils a strong and intoxicating alcohol with Soul, Blues, Rock and Jazz flavours.

Along the way, he has met Johnny Clegg, Henri Salvador and many others. Today, he is dedicating himself to the last step of the making of his own invention.

Malting. Grinding. Brewing. Fermentation. Distillation. Ageing. A whole life dedicated to the different steps of the making of this powerful whisky.

Producer Ulrich « Yul » Edorh is in charge, assisted by some of the most renowned international musicians : Reggie Washington (bass), Lyle Workman (guitars), Bobby Sparks (keyboards ), Arnold McCuller (background vocals ), Cyril Atef and Ulrich "Yul" Edorh.

Mr. Gu and Saleeh mingle their words and will undoubtedly give this unidentified moving object the power to fly in our hearts.

*The team :
Being a producer himself, M. Gu didn’t want to be judge and jury on his own work. This is why he chose to collaborate with Ulrich « Yul » Edorh, a producer/composer, a master in the mixing of styles and sounds.
Lyricist Saléha « Saleeh » Moudjari joined the team to work on the creation of the tracks.
The songs of this new opus are built around the voice, a guitar, texts and a piano. Other tracks are proposed by Yul and Saleeh.

Here’s the team who made this dream come true :

Ulrich « Yul » Edorh is a trans-culture artist.
Sometimes, he’s a drummer… At times, he’s a mixing engineer… He’s often a producer … And he’s an insatiable composer.
This creator travels the world, surrounded by his strong axis.
He’s as comfortable with his deep Togolese and Beninese roots as with a « mainstream- up to date attitude ». His work sculpts the extremes in an undeniable excellence.
Strength, emotion and modernity are his totems.
