Colored and socially responsible sneakers

About the project

Hello PANAFRICA backers,

Thanks a lot for your amazing support! Thanks to you all, we have reached our goal on the first day of our campain, and our second goal of 500 pairs after 1 week ! This goal was the minimum requested for us to start the production of our models and make PANAFRICA come true. But there are 30 days left and it doesn’t stop here!

Reaching 1820 pairs will enable us to :

  • Increase our support to education in Africa through the #WalkForSchool project. Thanks to you we are about to fully equip 500 children to go to school in Benin. Reaching our new goal will enable us to equip all the children ! Our partnership with the NGO ‘Espoir d’Afrique’ covers a total of 8 schools and 1820 pupils in Benin. Let’s dream about having them all studying in good conditions!

Thanks again. Vulfran & Hugues

PANAFRICA is a new brand of colored unisex sneakers, socially responsible, and founded by Hugues and Vulfran.

PANAFRICA designes sneakers, putting traditional African fabrics at the forefront.

PANAFRICA is a socially committed venture: through the #WalkForSchool program, for every pair you buy, a kid is fully equipped with school supplies, in selected African countries.

PANAFRICA has Africa at heart, and promotes local know-how and traditions : every pair of PANAFRICA shoes is hand made in Morroco, near Casablanca, and fabrics are carefully selected by us in Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria from local suppliers.

Wearing Panafrica is embodying African joy of life, and it differentiates yourself in the urban jungle !

We manufacture our shoes in the Casablanca region, Morroco, with a trusted local supplier respecting workers’ rights (work hours, minimum wages, health insurance, etc).

Every pair of PANAFRICA shoes is handmade, and the related production process takes several days. The know-how of Bouchaib, our workshop manager, and our requirements and standards in the choice of materials ensure top quality shoes.

The manufacture of PANAFRICA shoes shall allow Bouchaib to expand its workshop and hire at least four more people if we achieve our targets.

PANAFRICA is a socially committed venture. For every pair you buy, we equip a kid with school supplies in Africa.

1 pair sold = 1 kid equipped with school supplies in partnership with the NGO « Espoir d'Afrique » and the group of schools of Ifangni in South East Benin.

Espoir d'Afrique has been active for many years to improve access to schools for children in Benin, and the NGO has a good understanding of local contexts and needs.

Despite schools being free, numerous households can not afford to provide school suppliers to their children. The capacity for these children to study and thrive at school is lessened.

Education is, to our mind, the cornerstone of a child’s itinerary - being able to contribute at our own humble level to this cause, is an additional motivation in our entrepreneurial adventure.

For every PANAFRICA pair you buy, we donate a complete school kit including : a school bag, a notebook, a pencil, a ball pen, an eraser, pencil sharpener, a ruler, a blackboard and a chalk. Our donation also covers the organization of a ceremony when kits are distributed, before every school openings. This ceremony is meant to be both a joyful event and an empowering moment in a kid’s lifetime.

We ensure with our NGO partners the follow-up and monitoring, and focus on the sustainabibility of our socially responsible projects as we intend to accompany pupils and educational initiatives on the long term.

A the end of the crowdfunding campaign, we buy school supplies, and organize a launch ceremony in september 2016 (you cant rack the implementation on our website).

What are the funds for?

PANAFRICA is, as of today, only a project. Thanks to you all, we can make it real !

In order to achieve our ambition, we need a minimum amount of pre-orders to star our very first production ! This project will only materialize if we achieve this first objective, and over achieve ! So we count on you to get mobilized, share the news with your friends and family and become PANAFRICA shoes first brand ambassadors !!

About the project owner

For his first job, Hugues has been working in Senegal, Congo and Ivory Coast for an African Start-up. There, he discovers the diversity and the magic of African women dresses.

As he returns to France, Hugues takes with him a few traditional African fabrics he just bought on Adjamé’s market in Ivory Coast and meets Vulfran, his childhood friend. These brilliant fabrics inspire Vulfran who immediately imagines a few pair of sneakers combining them.

A few months later, willing to associate their creativity and their desire to contribute to the development of the African continent, they launch PANAFRICA, colorful and socially conscious sneakers handmade in Africa.

This beautiful adventure is coming to life thanks to several friends and our respective families, who have supported and advised us for many months. A big thumbs up to our families, and Bastien, Gregory, Amy, Tiphaine, Margaux, Corentin, Marie-Hortense, Guillaume, Joss & Sobam, Gautch & Hands Agency, Pierre, Perrine, Salima, Emmanuel B., Elise, Annie, and all of you standing by our side!
