Juraj Schweigert & Groove Time New Album

Help us produce our second CD

About the project

We would like you to help us fund and thus co-produce our second CD. Your support will help us maximize the quality of the product and your experience as listeners, and hopefully, proud owners of our CD. The music composed for the harmonica, guitar, bass, and drums is a crossover between blues, jazz, funk, and soul. While our debut CD mostly featured the essential bandmembers, for our new album we would like to invite many fine musicians to participate in the project and some of them have already agreed to contribute with their precious skill: Tibor Feledi on Hammond organ, Richard Ciferský on the banjo, Lenka Molčányiová on the Saxophone, or Dominika Debnárová on backing vocals.

In addition to a cool CD, rewards for our patrons will include bonuses like the debut CD Novelty Shop, Harmonica instructional material, or private harmonica lessons.

What are the funds for?

The current situation makes everyone's lives difficult and as the CD will be self-produced we hope you will help us with various expenses connected with the process. To start with, getting all the musicians together rehearsing the new material means covering travelling costs and practice room rent. We will then use the funds to co-fund recording, mixing, and mastering. There will be many fine musicians playing on the CD and we want to pay them fairly. The money will also be used to pay a graphic designer and an artist that will take care of the CD artwork. We also aim to document the recording process so a part of the funds will go towards that.

About the project owner

Juraj Schweigert & The Groove Time is Bratislava-based and the band features top musicians in the region (Juraj Schweigert-harmonica/vocals, Zsolt Szitási -guitar, Matej Štubniak - bass, and Juraj Raši - drums). The band started as a jump blues band and slowly developed a character of its own. While rooted in blues we like mixing in all kinds of genres like jazz, funk, latin, or rock so that we keep the music fresh and cultivate our own sound. The material we are currently working on mostly explores the common ground of blues and genres like funk, soul, and groove.

The band has won several awards at home and abroad and played a number of blues and jazz festivals. In 2015, we released our debut album Novelty Shop (finalist of the Blues Foundation Best Self-produced CD competition) and in 2016 we represented Slovakia at the European Blues Challenge in Torrita.  As an instrumentalist, Juraj was awarded 2nd place at the World Harmonica Festival in the Blues category in 2017.
