Jon the Farmer: Urban Farmer

Learning More and More, to Better Serve Our Community and Provide Healthy, Organic Food

  • What we've been doing since we last touched base....

    Hey everyone!

We wanted to take a moment to check in with each of our great supporters to let you know what Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer has been up to!

Since we completed our crowd funding efforts, there has been lots of planning, planting, sprouting and shouting with joy! Spring has sprung and we are getting closer and closer to having our baskets ready to deliver.

For those individuals that contributed funds and are receiving the reward of a discounted basket - keep your eye out for an email from [email protected] to schedule a delivery - it's coming around the bend and we would like to take care of your before we begin distributing to our other customers - 'cause you deserve it!

For those of you that are waiting on recipes - those will also begin arriving in your email once the harvests start getting picked fresh from the ground. Generally, we will have recipes focused on the variety within our baskets each week. But you may find a recipe here or there that just looks darned delicious, that calls for healthy ingredients. Oh....and PLEASE feel free to share any pictures and recipes that you have found enjoyable. We all need a little inspiration from time to time, when it comes to being in the kitchen.

Finally, we have been actively completing yard consultations, so if we haven't gotten to you, yet - fear not...we are on our way!!

And of course, we can not forget to mention that both Jon and I have begun the Jean Martin-Fortier Master Class and already it has begun to make a difference in how we are looking at the infrastructure of our neighborhood gardens and what each one will be able to provide to the community. The structure of this course is AMAZING and had it not been for YOU, we would not have been able to be a part of this great thing until next year - so THANK YOU!!

Please continue to pass along our name and mission, if you haven't already, you can like us on FB at Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer, as well as on Instagram at jon.the.farmer  Our website, jonthefarmer.com has some information, too! We look forward to feeding each of you, your friends and families this Spring, Summer, Fall and beyond!

Until then - take a look at a few pictures showing what we've been up to:

  • We did it - thanks to you!!

    Jon and Dawn here...

We wanted to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you for supporting Jon the Farmer!  All that we have done thus far, and that we are looking forward to doing has truly been a result of the support of our community, friends and family, combined with passion and hardwork.

When our family began this journey last Spring, we had no idea that this concept: working with our community to feed one another, would catch on so quickly. We have been blessed with fantastic word-of-mouth referrals and are finding ourselves currently maxed out at 14-properties from Bitter Lake to Columbia City! Wow, wow, wow!!

As we were able to meet our crowd-funding goal, two exciting benchmarks are now a reality: we are now enrolled in the Jean-Martin Fortier Master Class AND we can add a team member to our efforts - these are both HUGE accomplishments, as we will be able to streamline our hardwork and do so with a bit more (and truly needed) help.

The seeds are in the greenhouse as we type, and soon the starts will be transferred. Once we get closer to harvest time, we will start reaching out to you to begin scheduling your delivery of fresh, organic produce - grown in your neighbors' yards - YES!!

Keep your eyes out for your rewards, too!  From recipes to garden consults - they are all around the bend.

Finally, on an admin note - if you have not had a chance to complete your address information in your ulule profile, please do, so we can ensure funding goes through without a hitch - thanks!

All the best to you and yours,
    Jon and Dawn Larson

  • Help Jon the Farmer, Help Your Friends, Help Jon the Farmer

The sun has returned to Seattle and it seems the craziness of the snow days are behind us (knock on wood). As Jon the Farmer enters our final 15-days to meet our goal of fully meeting our crowd-fund goal of $2500 - we ask that you take your support to the next level and PASS OUR CAUSE ALONG!

Much like all things that are outside of the norm, the way to move the mission of improved, environmentally sound food practices forward is with your grass roots support. You and your like-minded friends, family and colleagues' dollars mean the opportunity to increase our knowledge of organic growing by participating in the Jean-Martin Fortier Master Class, so that we can continue to benefit you, your neighbors and our community-at-large.

Sure, they might miss out on a latte or a movie night, but it will be well worth it.

Help them think outside of the box - give to an awesome cause with cool rewards! Share the link: www.ulule.com/jon-the-farmer/ and know that you are doing a good deed!!

We have a way to go, but have faith that together we can make it happen. Thank you 🥕🍅🙏

  • A great offering from one of our founding land contributors!

As we continue to move forward with requests for contributions to our fund, one of our founding land contributors, Anita Shelton, has offered up a beautiful mosaic she made herself!!  This is made available to the first lucky individual to contribute $175.00 or more to our crowdfunding effort.

This beautiful tree really captures the essence of what we are doing here at Jon the Farmer - Urban Farmer - supporting the natural abundance of fruits and vegetables. By doing so, we are able to grow in a fully organic, bionutrient conscious way and support your communities with fresh food.

Thank you, Anita for your kindness. Thank you to all for your support. And remember, pass our mission along. We have a mere 34 days to meet our goal!!

    All the best,
    Jon the Farmer
