Jacques & Déméter - Crafted in France shoes

Pre-order our Fall/Winter 2014 collection at preferential price

About the project

DEDICATED CREATORS

Despite a long tradition of craftsmanship that has become well known around the world the footwear industry in France curently count about 800 employee when they were more than 7,000 in the 60 's due to the competition of low-cost labor and a huge apetite to more profit in defiance of quality and working conditions.

Willing to support this industry and try, at our scale, to preserve these know-how we decide to launch a made in france footwear brand: Jacques & Demeter. We imagine models in which we reinterpret the classic codes by integrating them in a contemporary aesthetic.

Jacques & Demeter are our respective second names, this anonymity, strengthened by the mask that serves as our logo, aims to erase us and highlight the skills workshops, tanneries and manufacturers with whom we work because we believe that these hands that shape products with such high quality deserve to be on the frontstage !

UNCOMPROMISING QUALITY

we spent countless hours looking for workshops and suppliers that meet all our criteria.

The workshop which manufacture our models is established in Cholet, France, and has expertise handed down from father to son since 1859

We chose to work with tanneries du Puy and Degermann whose hides are among the most popular for shoes making (eg brands such as JM Weston, Heschung or Paraboot among others use them).

WHY €195 TO €350 ?

there are many reasons but we have chosen to explain you here the top 5:

1 / Our shoes are 100% made in calf leather 100% (upper and lining). Moreover, these leathers come from french tanneries Degermann and du Puy which are among the most renowned in the world (their hides are used by brands such as JM Weston, Heschung or Paraboot). We attach the same importance to all components of our shoes (welts, laces, soles, etc..) which are also all made by artisans and factories in France.

2 / The quality is found in all production stages: from cutting to bite through construction (Blake or Norwegian). The workshop deploys expertise it has developed since 1859

3 / In addition to being beautiful our shoes are comfortable because we use forms that have been designed with the help of an orthopedic

4 / Made in France. The French know-how is one of the most famous for shoes making. That has a price especially when you consider that the making of a shoe can take up to 120 steps

5 / It is our choice. In view of what you can find on the market (even if we consider that our shoes are unique) an equivalent shoe will be more expensive

As this is a crowdfunding campaign, to thank you all for your back up all prices are, here, discount from 22 to 30%

About the project owner

Behind Jacques et Déméter there're Valentine Delaroa and Maxime Van Rothem who, during their 26th year and after various experiments (in a design agency for her and an audit firm for him), decided to chuck everything and start living from their passion for craftsmanship and footwear

Elegance, quality, customer service and respect for craftsmanship are our watchwords.

This project would probably never have been possible without the participation, trust and support of many friends and professionals.
