Hands-On-Warm by Totum Tech

Never worry about having cold hands again!

About the project

Totum Tech logo

Design for Inclusiveness. Technology for People.

We are Totum Tech. We help improve the quality of life for people with invisible disabilities by offering them human-centered wearable devices and software. We help people overcome limitations caused by their conditions so that they lead full productive lives.

Hands-On-Warm logo

We are the designers and makers of the smart heated gloves Hands-On-Warm - the only solution with sensors that's also powered by artificial intelligence to give patients with poor blood circulation an easy way to automatically reduce and even prevent flare-ups of hand and finger rigidity.

In addition, Hands-On-Warm are what you've been looking for if:

  • you always have cold hands when working or doing activities even in a mild air conditioned enviroment;
  • you have to skip the frozen food section when doing groceries to avoid long-lasting cold hands;
  • you suffer from different symptoms - like numbness, tingling, painful joints - in hands and cold environment makes them feel worse;
  • you have long-lasting cold hands when you deal with cold or iced drinks.

Why do we care?

One of our co-founders suffers from Raynaud’s disease, which blocks blood flow to extremities when exposed to even mildly cold environments. Working in an air-conditioned office, her blood flow is even more restricted, effectively crippling her for long periods.

Information on image: the blue/red/white ribbon for Raynaud's disease, the disease may cause up to 50% in lost productivity and 1 of 10 Canadians/Americans have the disease

From experience, her productivity drops by up to 50%, due to reduced finger dexterity and time needed to warm up. To date, heat is still the best way to improve poor blood flow.

She’s not alone. 10% of the adult population has Raynaud’s disease — that means millions of people struggle with rigid extremities. For many, heated gloves would be the ideal situation, but nearly all heated gloves are designed for outdoor use.

That’s where we come in.

What do we offer?

Hands-On-Warm are the smart heated gloves for people who have cold hands even while indoors; these gloves automatically maintain a warmth that's comfortable for you and is specially made for sufferers of Raynaud's disease. They are powered by artificial intelligence to be more and more efficient.

Wear them, stay warm, and live your life without compromise!

Feel in control again!

Made by people with cold hands for people with cold hands. We couldn't find gloves that did what we wanted, so we went and built them. We feel your pain, and these gloves will help you as much as they help us!

Prevent attacks or just plain cold hands

Stop feeling pain from cold hands during your indoors activities

Be as productive as you know you can be

Put the time you spend warming your hands back into being productive

Take back control from your cold hands

Hands-On-Warm the are smart, cordless gloves that heat up to your own comfort levels!

How do they work?

Our solution is the only solution with both sensors and AI to give people who have cold hands an easy way to automatically reduce or even prevent flare-ups of hand and finger rigidity.

Features from Hands-On-Warm: temperature sensors, artificial intelligence, mobile app, heating component

It's as simple as 1-2-3:

  1. The glove’s temperature sensor constantly monitors environmental fluctuations to detect temperature shifts.
  2. The AI matches it against personal comfort thresholds set up via a mobile app to predict flare-ups of low blood circulation
  3. It then activates the glove's heating elements.

The warmth generated maintains the user’s body temperature, preventing him/her from experiencing any pain and attendant loss in finger dexterity.

And you don't have to worry anymore about room temperatures, warming hands and so on; just focus on your regular activities and live your life as you wish!

Help us, and you may one of the first to feel soothing, smart heat!

What are the next steps?

The project began in 2017, and the development keeps on going! We've never stopped refining the gloves since the beginning, and will keep working on the best gloves that meet your specific needs.

It's been a long road so far, and there's more to come!

Visual representation of milestones

Milestones:

April 2017: Hands-On-Warm was created.

July 2019: Following intense research and development, we made significant upgrades to the the 2nd major prototype. We added a mobile app that controls the gloves via Bluetooth, we reworked the design for greater comfort and ease of use, and we re-engineered the electronics for durability. Prototype 3 refines all these features, and is nearing readiness for user testing.

September 2019: With your help from this campaign, we'll finish Prototype 3. We'll carry out full user testing so that we can finalize R&D and lock in our final design. After that, the regular presale campaign will be launched!

Summer 2020: Estimated delivery for Hands-On-Warm from presale campaigns and opening to regular online sales.

What are the funds for?

This funding campaign will help us transform our product from vision to reality, and along with us, and you can help empower many people who struggle on a daily basis.

This campaign is all or nothing. We must reach the funding goal in 30 days. If we don't, the estimated delivery date, which is Summer 2020, may not be met.

The proceeds from this campaign will help fund the final steps of our ongoing research and development, which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • acquiring equipment and components to build enough prototypes for testing;
  • collecting feedback from patients to improve final product design;
  • enabling us to do due diligence such that we comply with health and safety standards;
  • setting up manufacturing processes and partnerships.

How the funds are going to be used?

Funding usage: 8% for Ulule Share, 15% for taxes, 25% for funding backers bonuses, 52% for Hands-On-Warm project funding

Which gifts are you going to get by funding us?

Besides our gratitude, we'd like to kindly give a small reward for each of you who will support us.

About the project owner

Meet the team

Portrait of 3 co-founders

Julia is the CEO and Head of Design and Technology. Having obtained degrees in Architecture, Urban Planning, Graphic Design and BFA, and Computation Arts, her professional output over the last decade has consistently revolved around designing and building digital products that enhance human interaction and activities. On a personal level, she’s been building proofs of concept on how to incorporate environmental and biofeedback data into solutions tailored to help us work, live, and think better.

Patricia is the CTO and Head of Software and AI. After completing her Master’s and PhD in Computational Modelling and Industrial Technology, she spent more than 13 years both doing work as a developer in the IT industry as well as spending time as both a researcher and professor in Brazilian universities, where she created technology that promoted human health and wellness.

Henry is the COO and Head of Marketing. With a PhD in communication sciences and disorders, he spent years researching the neuropsychological aspects of communication impairments. For the last five years, he’s switched to industry, being an IT product marketer. Regardless of domain, Henry always focuses on innovative ways to solve health and business problems with technology. Among other accomplishments, he has used acoustic analysis to discern Parkinson’s disease symptoms earlier in disease progression, and proposed a novel framework of objective physiological sensors to identify psychopathy in corporate environments.

Besides our technology backgrounds, we have the commonality in that we all suffer from, or care for, invisible disabilities in our private lives. This makes the success of our startup much more personal. It’s our lived experience that’s led us to identify a market need among sufferers of Raynaud’s disease and prototype Hands-On-Warm in response.

Overall, we all have personal stakes, a wealth range of technical experience and adaptive creativity, and a demonstrated ability to recognize problems few others see. We have advanced our ambition from idea to prototype to incorporation to partnership.

This is why we are certain that we will be able to bring our products and scale our operations realistically and efficiently.

Meet our partners and supporters

Those partners support us and are engaged with our project so we all can make this idea become the product you've been waiting for!

  • Is my contribution an investment in your business?

    No. Unlike many different online funding platforms, Ulule’s approach is not of an investment (in which contributors get shares in a company or a project).

    Ulule is more about providing financial support to specific projects. It’s up to the owner(s) of the project to offer or not contributors specific rewards for their contributions – and we do offer! However, your contribution does not give you any ownership or authority regarding the project.

    We at Totum Tech are the only ones in charge. You are just helping us bring this project to fruition.

    From this page, click on the crayon shaped icon “Edit address and preferences” to reach the detailed page of your contribution. Finally, click on the option to turn your contribution anonymous.
