Adventures of 14 nursing students in Viêtnam

A little money for a great project!

About the project

Dear friends,

We are a group of 14 student nurses in our 3rd and last year at Corbeil-Essonnes (91) Institute of Nursing Studies (Institut de Formation en Soins Infirmiers du Sud Francilien).

Within the framework of our studies, we set up this project of a seven-week traineeship in a hospital in Vietnam. This course will take place from February 26th to April 15th 2018.

The AMS (Association Mission Stage) is helped us setting up the project.

We will be staying in a hotel and working at Dong Nai’s General Hospital located 32 km away from Hô-Chi-Minh. This hospital has 1,500 beds and many departments such as:

-External Medicine: neurosurgery, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, cancer surgery, urinary surgery, chest surgery…
-Internal Medicine: general medicine, infections, digestion, respiratory, neurology…
-Intensive Care Unit: heart and respiratory diseases.
-Maternity Ward
-Emergency Ward
-Traditional Vietnamese Medicine

With this traineeship, we are hoping to acquire a greater open-mindedness and also to be more able to adapt our nursing postures when being confronted by a different culture, so as to provide our future patients with personalized management. Our goal, after this traineeship, is to be able to take care of foreign patients in a holistic way.

Vietnam has a population, a language and a culture which are different from ours. Therefore, it would be a truly enriching experience for us, to discover and get to know this culture and the Vietnamese way of life. The fact is that different cultures and ways of life also have a different impact on health matters.

What are the funds for?

This course in a foreign country will give us the opportunity to assess and improve our adaptability. It will also provide us with the experience of working in a different health system.

This project requires a substantial financial investment. It would cost each of us students, approximately 2,000 €. This sum includes

-the visa (80€)

-the passport (86€)

-tickets go and back (680€)

-the accommodation, the meals and a translator (1,325 €).

We have already raised some money by selling nurse watches and as we are still students, we would need financial support to realize this wonderful project.
