About

Too much time on our hands is a project for my final year in a Ba photography course at the London College of Communication in London.

But first it is a documentary and support project about Palestine and the current conflict unfolding in the area, involving the locals, associations and NGO's acting on the ground and hours of dedication, interviews, videos directly on site to document the reality and situation of the Palestinian's daily life.

Embracing a long term interest for report and documentary photography/films as well as my recent studies and background in fine art the project is a balanced blend between this two fields that rarely meet nowadays but nonetheless open up some possibilities for a new approach in journalism, medias and politics.

The main subject is the segregation Wall and its impact on site, on the locals and their struggle to live a normal life, adressing the issues on mass medias and the biased discourse vehiculated by the iconography of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Building up on the statement that the Wall can be considered as the main center of focus but at the time time virtually removed or erased, the project aim is to investigate the alternative paths and ways of approaching a documentation of the topic without emphasising the presence of this physical object: therefore to depict the effects of the Wall without visually embodying it at any moment.

The project engulfs film footage as well as photography and some installation based sculpture to dissect the layer of interpretattion of this object of topicality as well as the concerns about the legitimacy of such an object in an artistic discourse and space.

It approaches and encapsulate the usually bloody, dramatised, over exposed scope of images used to adress the subject to turn it into a more poetical and lyrical realm, questioning the inherent problems, ideological and political issues affecting the process, to establish an new visual vocabulary lifting up the seriousness of the situation.

What are the funds for?

The funds would be used to help  carrying out the project, which requires a lot of expenses, in terms of planes tickets, travels and materials.

It would help as well in the editing and realisation of the work itself as a part of a final show that would take place in June, I need to print photographs and frame them as well as lot of expected expenses for materials back in London.

The project is already on the go and in an advanced stage but need your help to eventually comes to fruitation and concretisation in the best conditions possible.

Please take part and support a project that is asking to be taken to a greter stage and audience, to blossom and be shown to the biggest audience.

Thank you!
