Players è un progetto editoriale che mira a discutere di intrattenimento in maniera matura e indipendente, coinvolgendo un pubblico smaliziato e vagamente geek. Scritta e assemblata da un team internazionale di veterani provenienti dai più disparati angoli del panorama mediatico, Players intende offrire il meglio di cinema, musica, videogiochi, arte, letteratura e tecnologia a chi - con una certa disperazione - si è ormai rassegnato a non trovare niente di decente da leggere in edicola o sul web.

Con interviste, speciali e approfondimenti, Players punta a diventare - offrendo regolari numeri mensili a partire da Gennaio 2011 - il magazine digitale di riferimento per menti sveglie ed affamate.

Players is an editorial project aimed at discussing entertainment with an independent and mature attitude, engaging a sharp and vaguely geeky audience. Written and assembled by an international team of veterans coming from the remote corners of the media landscape, Players will offer the best of cinema, music, videogames, art, literature and technology to those bothered by the lack of anything really good to read at the newsstand or on the web.

With interviews and specials, and starting Jan 2010 with regular issues, Players will be like a shining beacon in the dark: the digital magazine of reference for lively and hungry minds.

What are the funds for?

La raccolta fondi è intesa per permetterci di gestire economicamente una roadmap iniziale composta da tre punti:

1- Allargare la base d'utenza facendo pubblicità alla rivista (web e soluzioni più tradizionali, a seconda dell'opportunità).
2- Mantenere il progetto operativo dal punto di vista pratico - pagare licenze, costi di hosting e spese di natura tecnica (nessuno dei redattori percepirà alcun tipo di compenso per la creazione di contenuti originali, se non la soddisfazione di far parte di un progetto culturalmente rilevante).
3- Iniziare a valutare lo sviluppo o l'acquisto di un'applicazione proprietaria che permetta di fruire di Players in versione ottimale anche su piattaforme iOS (iPad/iPhone) e Android (Galaxy Tab e altri).

Visti l'entità dei costi da sostenere (parliamo, sul lungo periodo, di migliaia di €), crediamo che chiedere un aiuto ai nostri fan sia il modo più sincero per stabilire una connessione con l'audience: tutto quello che riceveremo tornerà indietro - gratuitamente - in contenuti di qualità, e, si spera, anche in una forma tecnologicamente al passo con i tempi.

La campagna è stata divisa in più parti per favorire il raggiungimento di goal intermedi che ci permettano di monitorare la sostenibilità economica del progetto. Ogni donazione sopra i 10€ sarà ricompensata con la lista di bonus che potete trovare qui a fianco. Donate e vi sarà dato!

Funds for this project will be spent according to a roadmap composed by three main points:

1) Widen the user base, marketing the magazine through the web or more traditional means.
2) Keep the project operative from a practical point of view: pay licences, hosting costs and technical expenses. None of the contributors will receive any kind of compensation for creating original contents, with the possible exception of personal satisfaction.
3) Evaluate the possibility to develop or buy an application to optimize Players for tablet devices running iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android (Galaxy Tab and others) operative systems.

Considering the costs involved (we are talking - in the long run - about thousands of €), we believe that asking fans for help is the best way to establish a connection with our audience: everything we will get will be given back - for free - in the form of quality content and beautiful presentation.

Given the amount of funds needed, we decided to split our fundraising campaign in more parts to be able to reach intermediate goals. The most generous donors will have access to some special bonus features such as exclusive covers, new issues one week in advance, the possibility to request specific articles and more.
