About
The series «Street Views» is composed of 6 maps: one for each continent. We have identified, then made maps of all the places in the world travelled through by Google cars.
It's about a state of places in the world like those visible on Google maps, in 'street-view' mode, in January 2012. The use of map codes, and the transcript of data on paper facilitate the awareness of a new geography, finally much less virtual than it might appear.
In this way, it is essential for us that these maps become part of an edition, not just rare or single items.
Complex and stratified, these maps consist of a new puzzling geography through different levels of reading. A partial disappearance of Africa, as well as China: the frontiers that we know are transformed, to show the poiltical, economic and strategic realities.
The blue lines represent the 360° view saved by Google cars, and the dots are the photographs taken by travellers, then selected by Google.

Some technical specifications:
We would like to print this series in offset, in a Pantone reflex blue colour.
Each of these maps will be made into a minumum of 250 samples, in large format (905 x 68cm), on natural white Regular Olin paper, then folded into pleats.

What are the funds for?
To print, print and print some more!
In bulk, in offset, and in high quality, as soon as our target has been reached on Ulule.
And if you are too generous? We will print even more!

About the project owner
We are Juliette Goiffon and Charles Beauté, co-funders of 'Éditions Extraordinaires'.
Éditions Extraordinaires was created with the desire to experiment with a new type of structure, privileging quality and uniqueness in mass production.
Our editions are always designed and created with a desire to rethink techniques and materials, and above all to push limits. Rather than accept an increasingly machinated opposition between screen and paper, we want to exploit a gap in the market, producing books and hybrid objects which elude habitual codes of reading.
Curious by nature, we experiment tirelessly, from the little printer in our office to silkscreen or 3d prints, and we're trying to invent a new way to produce all of our editions.

Le Journal des finances, 8 superimposed glass plates printed silkscreen in hydrofluoric acid and mirror ink*, 2009. *not sure about this...
