STEAK (R)EVOLUTION

STEAK (R) EVOLUTION, is a creative documentary. A new "Mondovino" on STEAK.

Portraits: the modern cowboy and 20,000 animals, the three-star decorated French chef, the breeder of Japanese ground beef (his affection for the beef) and an Argentinian Gaucho,  who's happily lost in the Pampas. 

Steak is above all about crossroads filled with humor and emotions.

The camera will be both the leading role and our guide. It will be our eyes and our mouth. As viewers, we will constantly feel at the heart of the action.

Cooking is commemorating, and the meat being cooked has a key-role in most civilizations. There are so many different stories to be told. 

Even if meat is still sought after and valued, the fact is that it does not taste the same as in yesteryear. We have never been so suspicious with the meat. The question is: has our taste changed or has the meat changed?

We will explore places where steak is king.

The cowboy portrait will take us to Texas, where independent farmers need to face worldwide meat corporations.

We will travel from Renaissance paintings in Italy through endless lands in Argentina. We will follow the footsteps of the Black Angus in Scotland and observe the meticulously massaged Kobe beef in Japan.

We will compare the different breeding methods, the different cooking styles, the different soils, and we will witness stories about different relationships to steak.

We will highlight the discussion of the modern system that oscillates between the grass fed and the grain fed animals and observe the violent struggle it represents in health and economy.

Throughout our quest, we will top this incredible experience by raising our own beef so we can provide the best steak in the world. It sure is a difficult experience since our attachment to the animal will be put at sake the day we will eat it. 

Discussing the complexity of men and carnivorous predator as well as our sensitivity when it comes to our own memory, we realize that it all comes down to a moment of sharing, where the best steak in the world is like the best glass of wine and it often relates to those you have shared it with.

I am a producer and a distributor and STEAK will be the first movie I direct.

I was raised by a breeder, therefore my goal is to make an entertaining film about the subject with a personal approach. I feel concerned by today's complex situation concerning meat as well as men's general relation to being a "carnivore".

I truly liked the movie-documentary "Mondovino". I often find that in these sort of films the artistic part and the documentary part are unbalanced, I will aim to find the right balance.

My working partner is also my life partner, and she is the one producing me.
