It started with the dedication to create a unique high quality dance education for young, talented individuals. With lots of personal commitment, outstanding talent and countless hours of voluntary work, this dream has now come to reality: Dance Educational will open its doors in August 2011.

Dance Educational is a two year dance intensive independent program, to train and prepare students to enter the professional dance world. The program is designed to achieve the maximum potential of each and every student which is accepted into the school. The school is located in Copenhagen/Denmark and welcomes all Scandinavian and international students.

Is there anything you can do instead of (or additional to) a financial donation?

Yes, of course! (Thanks for asking!) A big help would be to promote this funding initiative. Maybe your friends, family or employer could imagine sponsoring Dance Educational? Maybe you could send an e-mail with our link or post it on your blog or Facebook profile. Spread the word!

Remember, this is not about finding rich people. It is about getting together many "ordinary" people (who maybe only donate 5€ each). People who are enthusiastic about inspiring, creative and passionate ideas!

What are the funds for?

Financial resources are needed to cover the initial costs during the starting phase. These include marketing, equipment as well as salaries for employed teachers and rent for the audition days, with the marketing costs being the major expense (printing and posting folders and posters, advertisement in dance magazines etc. will come up to a minimum of 1500€). None of the money will go to private use and all work of the founder has been his personal investment. You are welcome to contact us for the detailed budget information.

The plan is to share the costs amongst a big number of donors, each of them contributing with only a small amount. (Of course, you are welcome to give more, too!) Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated. Every little means a lot.

1. The power of the crowd. This way of funding is called "crowdfunding" which means that many people contribute with as much or as little as they wish. We have set a goal of collecting 2000 € (i.e. ca. 20000 SEK) within a time limit of 60 days. This is a high goal but we have strong faith in the fact that we together will be able to reach it. We believe in you - do you believe in us?

2. Rewards. For your donation you can choose a reward. This is a little thank you for your generous contribution.

3. Donating here and now. You simply click on the reward of your choice (you see them listed on the right) and you will automatically be guided through the further donation process. Since Ulule.com offers its service for free, we are very fortunate to only paying the PayPal fees. These will be deducted from the amount you give, so you won't be charged any extra. The money transeferral only takes place by the end of this fundraising campaign (see 5).

4. Donating in cash, bank transfer, cheque. No problem! Send us an e-mail or call to make an arrangement. We will then have to show evidence to Ulule.com in order for them to add the amount manually so that it will be part of this fundraising campaign. 5. All or nothing! If we won't manage to get 2000€ within the given time frame of 60 days, none of the donations will be realized so you will keep all your money. But we are determined to reach our goal, because we are convinced that there ARE people out there who think that educational opportunities for young artists are worth to be supported, people who believe in and have seen Val's remarkable talent and dedication.

After contacting a lot of large companies in the region I realized that all of them highlight their social responsibilty, but most of them have one or a few selected organisations that they sponsor regularly. Most of them are big organisations such as national sports teams. That means: the big money goes to the big ones. And no little money is left for the little ones.

But giving up is not the solution. So what about if all we small, ordinary people put together? We might only be able to give a drop of what is needed, but if we all do so we will be able to fill the glass eventually anyway.

About the project owner

Founder and Artistic Director of Dance Educational is dance teacher and choreographer Val Jean-Charles. Val was born in London and discovered very early his extraordinary talent for dance. By the age of 19 he had already accomplished his bachelor’s and master's degree in contemporary dance and choreography, after four years of professional studies at London Contemporary Dance School.

His education was followed by many years of successful performances on stages all over the world. Recent years have taken him to Scandinavia where he has mostly been choreographing and teaching both professional dancers and amateurs. These experiences planted the seed for his idea of creating an intensive professional dance program on an internationally high level; unique in Scandinavia.

Val is not only a born dancer, but he also has an outstanding talent for choreographing and teacher. He seems to have an unlimited amount of creative ideas. Over and over again he has managed to impress, surprise and touch both students, colleagues and the audience with each new performance. With lots of discipline, inspiration and the most sensitive feeling, Val has the dedication and the brilliant ability to bring the very best out of every student. I am convinced that the students who are fortunate to be taught by Val and his committed team will be part of an amazing journey. We as the audience will be fascinated, inspired and deeply touched by Val's choreographies that are yet to come.
