Synopsis
A young girlleaves her villageandmoves into the houseof an English familyas anau pair. Complicityis createdfirstwith the childand then with the parents. One night, strange voicesare heard...
The origins of the Project
At first, early 2011, I started writingthe storyregardless of the locationin which itwould take place. At this point, all the structuresof the storywere already present, that is the heartof the storyand the relationships betweenthe characters.
In a second step, I hadplanned one day to show the uniquenessof mychildhood home, the DicksHouse, builtby the architectJeanNouvel.Thisunique house, one of the fewprivate homesdesigned byJeanNouvel, has seenits constructioncompleted in1979.This is themain location setof the film.
Dicks House

By mergingthis story andthis house, I found that I hadan opportunity for extendingthevisualthemesof the film. When Ibecame interested inplacesthat could serve assets, I adapted the scriptby giving it acultural connotationthat did not existbefore. The filmnow approachesthemes relatedto the arts: painting, music, language, writingand especiallymodern architecturethat will beput forwardnot onlythrough theDicks Housebut also throughthe Exhibition Centre"The Cube" and theCampusof the Counts ofChampagne.
The Cube

Campus of the Counts of Champagne

The filmalso explores thefollowing themes:diversity, ethnic differences, transmission, ecology.
The projectbecamemuch richerand more personalso I decided tolaunch it.Ifound partnerswho offer meinthis project, assistance in the preparation, logistical supportormaterial:The City ofSaint-André-Les-Vergers,TheCultural CenterEspaceGérardPhilipe, La Ligue de l'Enseignement de l'Aube (Regional Council) ), The Champagne ArdenneRegionalOfficeofCulture (ORCCA).

What are the funds for?
Currently,I leadmy projectindependently.
This desire tomake thisfilm as a selft-production reflectsmy desire:
- To create withmy actorsand technicians (volunteers) as shooting that is aslight as possible(organization, budget, equipment, atmosphere).
- To have control overthe finished product and avoid any risk of production constraints.
- Accept thechallengeto make a filmwith a "low" budget.
If inthe movie business we canrely on the generosityof actors andtechnicians, partnerships for logistical and material support(see above), the essential budgetisrelated to the production management.
One of the most important rules for a good shooting is that thewhole teamhas the opportunity toeatsatisfactorily.
My request for funding is related to this budget.
This budgetrepresents the largestportion of the whole costof production and is a budget that cannot be reduced, out of respect forthe crew.
This budgetwill enablethe teamto benefitfor each of the12 daysof shooting:
-A mealworthy of theirgenerous contribution.
-A table withfood resources(coffee, bread, fruits, etc.) and available at every momentof the shooting.
About the project owner
Birth to cinema
I am a film buff since my teens and I started to discover cinema through theclassic films, including the American cinemaof the 50's&70'sand theItalian cinemaof the 60's.
The discoveryof certainfilms, such as the ones of MichelangeloAntonioni, made my preferences movingtowards a contemplative, slow-paced cinema, rather than actionfilms with frenetic editing.
Some of myfavorite directors: Michelangelo Antonioni, Elia Kazan, Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Billy Wilder, Apichatchong Weerasethakul, Kenji Mizoguchi, Koji Wakamatsu, Peter Watkins, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter, James Gray, Steven Soderbergh, Lars von Trier, David Lynch, David Cronenberg, Olivier Assayas, Eric Rohmer.
Cinema education
Engineer, painter andphotographer, I have followed a Directing technical training ina Cinema School (ETTIC) in Paris.
If I believe that the besttrainingis towatch all types of movies and in large quantities (and everything around), this technical trainingwas crucialbecause itallowed meto understand exactlyhow to make afilmof Ato Z.

Writing - Directing films
Since the endof these studies, I developed many projectsof shortandmedium length films.
In the summer of2011, I tookthe decision to launchone of myprojects.Quickly,I saw thatBlueberryGirlstood outfrom other projects: it was a storywhose pacesuited me(betweenmedium andfeature film)and its writingwasvery fluidand very pleasant. This was not theeasiestprojectto start, but it was the right one.
Currently,if I workalongside otherprojects,BlueberryGirlis the most advanced, the one I spendthe most energyand the one that close to my heart.
I invite you toparticipate in this project.
