No Camera Project: a Road Trip in Belgistan ...
(A photographic documentation...missing camera equipment!!)

We are Gil and Frédéric, from the duo ‘’No Camera Project ‘’ and we can’t wait to bring you an unusual perspective of our beautiful and flat country of Belgistan! Over two months , from the arid Pampa to Foufnie-les-Bourdouilles to the industrial wasteland of Hoûte-s’i-Ploût passing through the forest of Brusseliandre, we revisit these lost and forgotten corners of the world only seen in post cards!
One peculiarity of the project: at the moment it's going to have to be made without any photographic materials!
In effect, it is a record of our wanderings, where far from the beaten tourist track, sometimes in a flea market, sometimes in a second-hand shop or even someone’s home, that we find the necessary and useful materials of our adventure.
From old devices stained with the patina of time, to old dusty lenses and outdated movies with uncertain colours, it’s these long forgotten materials lost in the corner of an attic to which we give a second life, a new life!
We will give ourselves two months during which we will criss-cross relentlessly between different regions , by train, by hitchhiking, on a tandem or by foot. We will also have a supplementary month to develop, design, choose, tidy and print the magazine.
Gil will take care of the B&W film development and the colour films will be left in the safe hands of our partner Photo Nation in Paris!
Outdated materials, a new perspective, a wild duo, all will combine to bring you a unique and original photographic journal bursting with a certain charm and character…
This project will ultimately be the basis of an exhibition in Paris and will be presented in several museums (notably the Museum of Photography in Paris) and submitted to different photography competitions!

What are the funds for?

-Printing Budget (notebooks, post cards, tote bags, drawings etc…): 1700 €
There will be in total 12 different models of post card, in CMYK (or B&W), a shiny front with matt finish on the other side, a photography notebook of/or 75 pages in CMYK ( and B&W) and B&W, staples, a tote bag with a unique design, this last one a silkscreen print by Les Presses Ambulatoires!
- Film Budget (developments, high-resolution scanning etc,…) : all graciously offered by Maximlilien of Photo Nation in Paris!!!
Gil will handle the development of the B&W film. The colour films requiring a larger infrastructure and specially adapted materials as well as the high resolution scans will be left in the reliable hands of the professional lab at Photo Nation!
- Miscellaneous budget (housing, transport, materials, chemicals, miscellaneous,….): all this will come out of our own pocket.
A friends’s sofa as housing, several bicycle rides as transport, a piece of equipment in exchange for a portrait or a conversation, building of a device with a Speculoos box and a piece of cardboard,; all these little things will allow us to stay at the heart of the project, allwing us to finance the important things.
Would you prefer to contact us directly ? No problem, here are my details, don’t forget to clearly state which rewards you want, along with your name and address! Please do not hesitate, I am entirely at your disposable!

About the project owner
Gil Barez / 39
Reserved in nature, he discovered photography with a Konica Pop Rouge at the age of 19! After evening classes in photography and some journeys to Morocco, Mali, Spain, Nepal, Peru, Thailand and Laos, Gil came back to us for a trek to Belgistan with a weakness for a square format in black and white.

Frédéric Buchet / 37
Discovering photography 4 years ago now and self-taught, he likes to combine street photography and ‘Foto Povera’! For this project, he has a marked preference for a classic format with psychedelic colours.
