About
THE STORY
Anna is beautiful. Anna is not well. She walks the thin line of despair. Jerome is only six years old but old enough to fall in love. Infatuated, he follows Anna, a complete stranger, back to her car. When she sees him standing there, so innocent and yet so determined, Anna doesn't quite know what to do. She decides to take him along and together they embark on a beautiful and dreamy afternoon.
Thanks to Jerome, Anna can smile again. And Jerome feels like a true little man by her side. But, as the sun sets, the spell breaks, and Jerôme wants to go back home...
THE PROJECT
"Anna and Jerôme" is my thesis film project at NYU's Graduate Film Program. We are fundraising for the production of this film, which will be shot this fall in Normandy, France and will star Elodie Bouchez as Anna.

I had already thought of Elodie when I was beginning to write the script. I had seen her in films such as The Dream life of Angels and Blame It On Voltaire and had been struck by her magnetic presence on screen. She had the strength and sensibility that I was searching for in Anna.
I am still casting for the part of Jerôme. Directing a child is a challenge but it is also one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences as a director. My first short film, Jalouse, stared a seven-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy. It was a beautiful experience and I take all the lessons learned about working with children into Anna and Jerome.
The crew is mostly made of young and eager filmmakers from France and the US that are ready to bring this story to life.
The shoot will take place in Fécamp, a beautiful town by the sea in Normandy, known for the spectacular cliffs that surround its beaches. We're happy to have the active support of the town's cultural office.

What are the funds for?
To make this film we need approximately $25 000. We need to raise $17 000 to be able to start production and get the cameras rolling.
We will use this to rent film equipment and transport it to location, to feed our crew and to secure our accommodations.
We can't do this without your help. Please donate what you can, any amount helps!
About the project owner
Mélanie is part French and part Colombian. After studying Philosophy and Russian in Paris, she moved to New York to follow NYU's Graduate Film Program. During those years, she made her first short films and had the opportunity to collaborate with many other filmmakers. Today she hopes to be able to work and continue telling stories in Europe, Latin America and the US.
